First reactions are mostly very positive. People who saw it are tweeting and they seemed to enjoy it. It can still go either way but I have a good feeling about A:C. Am I the only one who's actually looking forward to this?

Based on the trailers (50% of the movie it seems) this movie seems to have a tighter story-line with more screen time given to the gore and horror of the Xenomorphs in all of their new forms. Prometheus didn't know what it wanted to tell us, only that Dr. Shaw seemed to know everything about the Engineers (she's the one who penned them that btw) and that Weyland was nothing more than Rupert Murdoch looking to ascertain immortality). Both of those narratives never panned out in the storylines and all we ended up with was a short bit of Alien Hentai and a baby "Deacon" appearance with no followup.

Let's hope the reviews are good. I'm still worried that Alien Covenant might not be as good as we hoped. There's an awful lot of AC marketing lately that seems more than usual. I'm not sure if that's a troubling sign or a studio showing lots of confidence.
I'd think that they would waste more money on marketing if they didn't have faith on it being good, but who knows. I'm still going to see it. Everyone was trashing Prometheus when it came out so I skipped it at the theater and when I finally saw it I really liked it.
shareI've been a fan of the Alien franchise since I was a kid back in 1979 when the original premiered. Loved them all save Alien Resurrection and AVP (which I don't even consider to be Alien canon)
I enjoyed Prometheus and consider it to be a good prequel to Alien - not the best but "good"
I'll give AC a fair chance. I don't judge a movie by its trailer and/ or by critical reviews.
Its a good alien movie, but its dogshit if you were looking for something with more depth like prometheus promised but also failed to deliver on.
