I know criminals arent geniuses, but he's a moron with a big mouth who likes to act tough but has zero brains, there no way he gets to survive let alone run a gang. His wife Maya likes to think she's a big shot because she's a decent looking blonde and actually has a thought in her head but in the end she's a minor character.
The 2 of them couldn't run a lemonade stand much less a drug gangland a bar.
That's true. But then they need to show Maya actually do something worthy of a badass. I think they take up too much time each episode and its not leading anywhere.
all_those_moments......I agree. I'm really liking that storyline and I like the whole Damon/Maya dynamic. Both are well-written and complex characters. I think it was especially powerful how they showed Damon breaking down in the alley toward the end of the episode, and Maya finding him out there and comforting him. It really gave a lot more depth to his character and humanized him.
LWS is a series that, compared to other similarly dramatized shows, may unfold too slowly for many. This is terribly unfortunate because the production value is solid and the subject matter intriguing.
As moments and okeelani noted, we're being given Damon's range of emotion, especially since his world is really becoming unravelled. Those that have been dismissive of Damon's journey, now can be treated to his being a suspect in the cop killing.
I like LWS, and am glad to see the story begin to come together. The show will obviously not appeal to some.
I am starting to wonder if Damon ISN'T too dumb to live. Not that I think he's stupid (though he is incredibly reckless), but he's such a convenient fall guy.
Maybe he doesn't die (though I am really toying with this idea) but I would not be at all surprised if he were to go to prison.

I think that is the whole point of his character, to be too stupid to live. He made a dumb ass play to steal his bosses cocaine, then made an even dumber play trying to sell it in another person's territory without letting them know that he actually works for another person and where the cocaine came from. And he actually thinks that he got away with it, when it seems like in actuality everybody knew what he was up to and just wanted to yank the carpet out from under him to teach him a lesson. Then to compound his problems he goes and kills a LT in Low Downs organization, which if he hadn't of done he may have been able to go back to Skilozs with his tail between his legs, but ends up making him and his wife loose everything they have. And with all of these actions and his relationship with the dead cop, he set himself up to be the perfect patsy for the cops death. Greed, impatience, stupidity and arrogance did him in.

Add to that: Recklessness, a desire to prove himself, a desire to make a name for himself, and a desire to avenge the wrongs done to his father by Skilozs.
You just described Jimmy Darmody's arc on Boardwalk Empire to a tee. The difference being, Jimmy was also smart, capable and even a bit charismatic, despite or perhaps because of being a dead-eyed extremely sick puppy, and thus a tragic figure worthy of a two season arc on a post-Oz serial drama. Damon is worth an episode. And therein lies the difference, in character and ultimately in show.
And YOUR problem is that you state your OPINIONS as if they are the single correct answer to what is 100% a subjective topic. My pointing out: "Dude, that is simply your opinion, and opinions vary" is more reasonable than your approach, which is: "My views are the correct analysis of this show, and all others, if they do not mirror mine, are simply inferior and incorrect."
Not replying to any more of your useless nonsense is no problem. Your views have no more merit than anyone else's. You are the perfect example of a troll....and not even remotely enjoyable to have dialogue with. Plus, you come off like a complete tool. Seriously, have you ever kissed a girl?
