So Miss Mardle is now living with George?

Now Agnes and Henri ont disparu, Mardle is back to shacking up with another single dude, but this time no with chaperones. What will people think? Do you think she and George will hook up?

It's HER house, so George boards with her, presumably for a price (pittance though it might be - she is a generous and warm-hearted woman). That is hardly the same as "shacking up."

Agreed. I think it's understandable that, upon returning from the war, he moved back in with his sister, who's now living in Miss Mardle's house. She seems to have plenty of room in that place.

George told Victor that Ms. Mardle wouldn't take any money from him for rent, and that's how he had money to give Victor for his club.
Ms. Mardle is a woman of "independent means" after her brother left her money and the house.
