So, ruminations on upcoming episodes 9 and 10, Series 4...SPOILERS S4
So here we are. Two more episodes! Where will they take us?
Will we see a final scene of destitute Harry in arm chair, staring out the window of his flat in Putney as he breathes his last (pneumonic) breath?
Also, the big elephant in the room in 1928 and later is the stock market crash on Wall Street and the reverberating shock waves around the world in business.
They have plenty of made-up stuff in this series about Harry and his business and his associates.
So, with Jimmy Dillon and his "trusts" and his (what appears to be) Ponzi scheme in which he sold shares all over the place to raise money for Harry....will it all come crashing down for Jimmy and his relationship to Harry when October '29 hits our screen?
On that note, what will happen to Harry? And with his board's trust in him for getting hooked up big time with such a swindler as Jimmy?
In reality, it appears both Whiteleys and Selfridges managed to weather the Depression, so we probably won't see either doors close before the 10th episode, because that would be way too far away from reality.
But it might be interesting to see what the fictional Jimmy means to Selfridges when the crash comes, given his close association with Harry as owner of Whiteleys, etc.
That would be some awful ending to the series! Followed, I hope by the coda to see where Harry ends up, tragically, with his daughter in that flat.
A load of story lines to tie up. They have handled quite a few with Kitty, Mr. Grove, as the regulars have peeled off this year. But....
