Music in Jimmy's flat
imdb shows a credit for original music, but this piece has been used for many years on TCM - anyone know the title and composer?

shareTCM - smack heads. That's where I know it from!!
shareI have no idea if this montage will help to answer your question, but if you are a fan of TCM, you will probably enjoy this (even if it doesn't give you the info that you are seeking:)

It's just so much fun to watch and listen to...

Which ep? 4.1? Or?
shareActually, it's at the end of 4.2. I re-watched 4.1 today, and there were no scenes in Jimmy's flat, so I went on to 4.2, and there it was! It's the scene where May goes to Jimmy's flat after she tells Harry off (about the Dolly sisters ruining her fashion presentation.)
Since then, after listening to the music in question, I've listened to portions of many Benny Goodman and Artie Shaw YouTubes (because of the prominent clarinet at the beginning of the piece.) So far, no luck finding that particular piece of music, but my husband and I agree that it's familiar because it's been used on TCM! I can't find a thing about it on TCM, either.
Actually, it's at the end of 4.2you are right- - I forgot PBS shows episodes 1 & 2 back to back on the night the show premiered. share
I tried checking it with the shazam app and this is what it came up with:
Biography: Kellogg Brothers
A&E Television Networks
I wasn't able to follow up on that because I can't find that episode of Biography online.

do you think it has any connection to Corn Flakes?
Doubtful that the music in Jimmy's flat is related to the Kellogg brothers. The documentary probably has a piece of background music that sounds similar to the music in Jimmy's flat.
Shazam makes mistakes sometimes, particularly with tricky music. That said, it's very possible that the music heard in Jimmy's apt isn't uploaded anywhere online-- or at least that particular recording of it, otherwise shazam would have identified it.
Through my job I have access to the entire catalog of Biography eps (among many other things) and was able to access via our subscription and credentials. That piece of music isn't in the Kellogg ep, but there were a couple of jazzy clarinet bits, which is what I'm guessing shazam locked onto.
Sorry it wasn't more helpful.
Sunday night I identified the songs in Call the Midwife using shazam. Fun!
