I've grown to really love these characters and am sad it's ending. Too many shows I love now are ending ("Nashville," "The Family," "Mr. Selfridge"). But I realize there's nothing else to show in Selfridge's life. Well it's been beautiful to watch, a very memorable series.
...Inspector Lewis, Endeavour, Downton Abbey, Wallander. So many great shows are leaving us this year. There should be an international day of mourning. 😥
I agree with you Nomad310 -- a day (or week or month!) of mourning is in order. I'll miss Mr. Selfridge as well as the rest of the cast in this terrific, character-driven drama. Great entertainment! I feel the same way about the other shows you mentioned.
I'm glad the finale allowed Harry to ride off into the sunset (so-to-speak) with Mae at the end, and spared us the sight of a defeated old man. I want to remember him for his spunk and Can Do attitude -- AND for creating one of the best stores in the whole world, one that's endured for over a century!
Absolutely, merryapril! I like to imagine Harry and Mae living in a somewhat shabby yet elegant villa overlooking the sea in the south of France. Perhaps they'd turn it into a B and B, or a Michelin starred restaurant. Or maybe they buy a lavender farm near Grasse, serving the perfume industry.
