Two questions... SPOILERS inside

First of all I found the movie pretty average - the found footage and vampire themes have been done to death and combining them does not make it original (there was a similar segment in the first V.H.S. movie).

Regardless to my opinion about the movie, I do have a couple of questions:

1. How can the vampires be immortal? Wouldn't put them in the sun for hours destroy them (turn them into ashes)?

2. Did Derek rape that last cop/swat guy after killing him in front of that french man he was questionning? It looked like he at least dry humped the poor corpse . Was he like out of control / following his "animal" instincts due to lack of feeding?

Your first question is a good point. I would assume it would seriously *beep* up a vampire but not kill it. It could probably sustain through 12 hours and then heal back through the night. Or maybe its "body" goes into instinct mode and make it get shelter. Though it makes me wonder what if a vampire went to alaska where its can be day light for 6 months straight.

For your second question no. I dont think he humped the cop. I think he was grabbing at him.

I would think that if you could keep the vampire in the Sun, it would destroy it.

1. Perhaps keeping a vampire in the sun would indeed kill him after time. It's purposely left unclear based on what we observe watching the film. However, seeing what Derek did to Interpol and the SWAT team, how can anyone overpower him to even put him in the sun?

2. The "last cop/swat guy" scene you're referring to was understandably unclear given the position of the camera at Derek's waist, Derek bending over the body, etc. My impression was that he was very, very thoroughly draining the body and nothing more.

1. Depends on their origin story. In Anne Rice's series, Lestat drank from the Queen so when he tries to kill himself in the sun, his instinct kicks in and he buries himself in sand until he heals enough to walk again. Derek said it was extremely painful for him, so I think at some point he runs by instinct into the dark, like the Interpol chase scene.

2. I agree, I could hear all the gross slurping and swallowing sounds. 😜
