Pryce...(spoilers)

Honestly, this season had a lot of problems and inconsistencies, it's been discussed all over this board, but what I want to know is...what happened the Pryce's strength? Don't get me started on his terrible, poorly thought out death, I mean really? This side patient that was barely in the season kills him? Smh, but anyway I'm almost certain earlier in the show, I mainly recall it from season 1, there were moments that showed off some kinda mysterious strength that he had...but in this season he was a regular human being, why would they just can that and give no explanation for it? Anyone correct me if I'm wrong as it's been a long while since I've watched seasons 1 and 2, but he did show moments of super human strength yes?

reply

The side patient was really him or an imprint of his mind put into a test subject. He essentially killed himself.

reply

Yeah I know that, but I felt like it was such a stupid, uneventful way to kill him off. The character deserved a much better send off in my opinion, this patient that had his mind imprinted with Pryce's was barely in the season, showing up at brief random times. Shame.

reply

My guess is that they wanted to maybe have him be some other kind of mysterious being (like the snake / flying thingie maybe) in season 1 and then thought better of it. Or maybe a result of his experiments giving himself frankenstein strength.

In any case it was extremely puzzling and an obvious plot hole.

The whole show gone completely to *beep* with S3 and his death was really shameful.

From: http://hemlockgrove.wikia.com/wiki/Dr._Johann_Pryce

Enhanced Strength: Pryce suffers from an abnormailty in his adrenal glands, which can give him hysterical strength, the occurrence normal human being feels excited or experiencing fight or flight mode, to the point that their adrenaline levels heighten until it makes them strong beyond their level until they calm down. Pryce has this strength all the time. He has the strength to shove a full Upir, but can be easily pinned down by a full Upir. His artificial stimilants seem to counter act his condition, possibly due to the potentially damage of an adrenaline overdose. These drugs, while allowing him to cope with his strength, and potentially his childhood trauma and possible damaged psyche as well, also where highly addictive and caused him to become frenzied and completely unstable, both mentally and emotionally.

I agree. *beep* way for him to die - he was my favorite.

"That's not what making out sounds like. Unless I'm doing it wrong."

reply

I didn't like that most of the characters died except for Peter.

reply

Yeah, it's been a while since I've seen season 1, but didn't Pryce lift Norman off the ground by his neck with one hand? I also remember him crushing a glass or something into powder after he says he suffers from chronic "hysterical strength."

reply

He crushed his voice recorder into bits when talking with the lady hunting Peter in season 1.
