A story about my experiences watching Hemlock Grove

Last year, my fiancee said we needed a new show to follow. We started Netflix and because we've heard good things about season 1 of Hemlock Grove, we decided to give it a go. After the first few shots I told my fiancee to turn it off. It felt so forced and arty farty. She convinced me to just go with it and give it a chance. I did.

Season one was actually pretty entertaining. I really liked the bromance and the "small" scale of it all. We have to guys that become friends while they actually need to be enemies. They investigate stuff and it really felt like a show that could have cool episodes for ten seasons or something.

Then season two came. It started good, with the suspense and the mysterious killers but after the first four or five episodes I really started to dislike the show. I started grabbing my phone and not paying attention. The final episode was a huge middle finger to the fans of season one, with a large lizard guy showing up.

5.5/10

Season three. Don't get me started on season three. Season three was the final episode of season two but stretched out over a whole season. What a piece of garbage. What a waste of time. What a waste of talented actors and actresses.

I agree entirely

My husband and I did the same thing. And agree with you completely. My jaw dropped at season 2 finale. I mean, it was just awful! Looked like an opening show for Sharknado!

For me, this show belongs in the "so bad that it's good" category, same as the movie "The Room".

First season is all style and no substance but I'm sure I'll re-watch this series a few more times. Not because of great acting or compelling story telling but because it's campy and really fun if you don't take it too seriously. 

I gotta say this again, but in the, ahem, "epic" battle between Roman and Peter when Peter leaps and explodes into the wrong colored wolf I turned it off and had to wait 24 hours to muster the resolve to finish this hot mess. Seriously, the best part of season 1 was the lycanthropy transformation plus the use of cgi scaled up real wolves or wolf-dogs. The cgi werewolves in season 2 and 3 were just awful. Plus when the cgi wolf killed Roman??

Im rambling ffs. The last season of this show troubled me with how terrible it was.
