I did quite enjoy it but alive or dead won't they find the daughter eventually anyway? He knows the guy did it now, won't they just tear the entire house apart inch by inch looking for her as soon as he gets back? Or do they just look in each room and then leave?

Well, you would think so, right? But, remember, the guy who is now in charge of the investigation, the guy in the apartment at the end, is the same guy who "couldn't find a corpse in the morgue." So, who knows?
I liked the movie but, like you, I found this last little coda quite weak.
True but the boss already gave him permission to do what was necessary. I doubt anything will stop the father from ripping that house apart.
