Extremely disappointed
As a huge fan of the book I had semi-high expectations for this movie, but I've never been more dissapointed in my whole life.
I wonder if the makers of this movie even read the book at all. Holy *beep*

The Scorch Trials, Insurgent and the Percy Jackson movies....
And you complain about The 5th Wave?
The Scorch Trials, Insurgent and the Percy Jackson movies....
Yes, I'll complain about this one. I haven't read any of the Maze Runner books but I've enjoyed the movies.
I did not read the 5th Wave book and this movie is garbage. That's the problem. If a movie is made and it turns off the book fans the only hope is that everyone else likes it.
I agree. The book had such fleshed out characters each with their own hopes, fears, quirks etc and the movie took no time to delve into anyone but Cassie, Ben and Evan. It was all about the action and battles but if I'm not invested in the characters why do I even care if they live or die. Teacup, Poundcake,Dumbo...all great characters completely ignored.
And as far as the sequels go, I thought they were great. The Last Star had me guessing until the very end.
This is actually a series that would've benefited from being a television series. Cassie's parents were in the movie for like two minutes so it didn't give any sort of emotional punch when they died.
There are too many story lines going on at the same time to shove it into about a 2 hour movie. There were so many things that were changed or left out because of timing and I think they were important to not only flesh out the characters but flesh out the overall story as well.
Turning off this girl power craze
Started watching as it was a curiosity Now it's propaganda
Bit of an exaggeration there, man.
It's a mediocre movie and a mediocre adaptation. There are so many worse adaptations of books.
At least we got a decent lead in Moretz. I'm not her biggest fan, but she's a decent actress for her age and the best main-stream actress I can imagine to play Cassie.
Also, Schreiber. You can't go too wrong with Schreiber.
