They're aliens - just call them bloody aliens!

Why the "others" bollocks?

reply

Maybe the author was a fan of "Lost"

reply

It's the same problem with zombies.

reply

Well in the Walking Dead that was because in Kirkmans' alternate universe he created, "zombies" were never a part of popular culture.

The people had no reference to know what was happening or what to do, they had to learn how to kill the zombies, etc...

Yeah, how many zombie films have that excuse?

I don't give a f*@K about a troll who doesn't pay for his opinion telling me how to review movies.

reply

Because people would be like "oh how cliche that they call them aliens, oh stupid YA movies haha"

reply

Avoiding the word is cliche.

reply

I guess everything is cliche now I see.

reply

Nope. You don't seem to know what "cliched" means. There's nothing cliched about calling aliens "aliens", just like there's nothing cliched about calling dogs "dogs" and cats "cats". They're just the right words for those things.

reply

Because they looked human. Easier to call them others than aliens when they look human.

reply

But people didn't know that when they coined the word "others"

reply

'Others' is an important word for those with a progressive education.

In Lost though it made a lot of sense to use that term. In this film, about an alien invasions, it's quite pointless.
