Another spikey looking spaceship

Does the same person design all movie spaceships? It started with the spaceship in Watchmen. It had many, many spikey projections and in every movie since most spaceships have a similar design.

The spaceship from Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind (1977) was a pointy ship. Then it flipped over fearing those pointy things might break off. 

Actually the ship in Close Encounters was upside down when it approached the mountain and flipped over to be right side up.

And yet 95% of UFO sightings suggest an alien spaceship is likely to be cigar-shape and also able to change that shape...
