What wrecked the car?
This film started badly, with the opening accident setting the tone for the whole story, of "don't ask why it happened, just watch the action!" Just inane. Things don't have to be explained in minute detail, but if they want you to go along with the story, they have to make some level of sense.
So, "something" shattered the windscreen. What? At first, I thought it was a rock someone had dropped from an overpass, maybe. I've seen it definitively claimed it was "a tree branch". But they were on an open bridge, with nothing close -- no trees, nothing overhanging, no-one possibly close enough to throw anything.
If it was, say, a tree branch, it could have been handled with a couple of grabs of dialogue from, say, the agents while trying to stop the car tumbling off the bridge, such as:
Agent 1: What ...?
Agent 2: Tree branch, I think.
Done. Now that's out of the way, and we can watch the action.
Instead, everything's set to a child mentality, where we're actively encouraged not to think. "Just watch the car get smushed. Don't give a thought to why."
Gakk.
