Australian reporters?

They used a real Australian reporter, Hamish MacDonald, and had footage from Channel Ten in Australia. Why not use an American?

Trying to show how big it the event is around the world. Also many international reporters and anchors are now on American cable news

MacDonald was the US correspondent for Channel Ten in Australia. Seems weird to use him.

Indeed it's like why they used a British Sky news report in Independence Day, they just want to show the global impact.
