"Die Hard" in the White House...
...only with Korean extremists instead of German extremists. Nevertheless, it IS still a very entertaining popcorn flick! In fact, I consider it to be one of the better "Die Hard" knockoffs. Gerard Butler's character, Mike Banning, reminds me of John McClane in terms of his tough-guy-who-does-crazy sh!T personality and quick-witted dialogue that he delivers and Rick Yune's character, Kang Yeonsak, reminds me of Hans Gruber in terms of his sadistic and cruel mannerisms as the deranged leader of the bad guys. I honestly couldn't help but notice more similarities between BOTH "Die Hard" and "Olympus Has Fallen" as I was watching the movie. That's not necessarily a bad thing, if anything, I consider it to be inspiration that the filmmakers took from the former. That is why I find it funny whenever someone complains about it being unrealistic. It's not supposed to be realistic, it's just supposed to be an exciting throwback to the style of 80's action movies. With that said, I enjoyed it for what it was from beginning to end. "London Has Fallen" was also nicely done and I am looking forward to the third installment, "Angel Has Fallen"!
