Jokes about Tatum's age are redundant... HE LOOKS COLLEGE AGE

He looks pretty much college to me. I wouldn't think twice if I saw him on campus. I felt the jokes weren't well placed.

Jonah Hill at times did look late 20s, so the jokes worked. But Tatum? Hell no.

reply

Not really. I mean he looks like what TV and Films play out to be college.

But a college freshman who is 17 or 18...no he does NOT look!

I just graduated from college in may.

reply

Disagree. Big guys can look quite mature for their young age. I wouldn't peg him as a freshman but I certainly wouldn't be thinking he looks out of place.

reply

Seriously. My roommate freshman year was heavyset, balding and had a constant five=o'clock shadow. Dude looked like he was in his 30s (and he was always the one that made beer runs for us)

Also, athlete types (like Jenko) are bigger and usually look a little older, due to excess testosterone or whatever. But yeah, Jonah Hill did look a little too old to be a freshman, but as has been mentioned, not everyone goes to college directly after high school.

Life is never fair, and perhaps it is a good thing for most of us that it is not.

reply

Thank you! I wouldn't look twice at a big jock who looks that mature. He has a twenty something face and that is common for muscle heads.

reply

Hate to break it to you but your roommate was a narc. LOL

reply

I work at a college. No he doesn't.

Only because you know he's not college age.

reply

Channing Tatum in no way, shape, or form looks 18-22. You are out of your mind.

I thought those age jokes at Hill were hilarious.

Robin Williams RIP. Most recent movie seen: Dumb and Dumber To: 9/10.

reply

So did I. The girl's delivery helped too. Good deadpan.

it is all about genes. Some people are 30 and look 18
some people are 20 and look 33, No everyone looks their age. The girl from the walking dead is 30 but she played a 17 year old.
Some actresses are 28 and play kids. At the same time I remember guys from High school that looked like bikers or bodybuilders. They looked 30 but they were 19, they had beards, they were chubby and did not look young.

So what? Keanu Reeves looks 20 years younger than his age. Jonah Hill could pass for a college student

reply

You don't have older students?

reply

I agree OP, he looks older than 22 but it's not so weird seeing someone like him at college.

reply

We've all seen older people at college, but it's weird to see someone 30+ in a dorm with all 18-22 year olds. Not saying it doesn't happen (as there was one when I was in college), but it is weird. He never tried to pretend he was young though.

The problem with Hollywood is that when you see real college age students when you're older, they all look like they're in middle school due to how they're portrayed on TV and in the movies.

reply

To me, Tatum looks about 35 and Hill looks about 26-28.

Also, "redundant" doesn't mean what you think it means.

"Oh, my God. Bear is driving! How can that be?!"

reply

I think you need to look up redundant, I mean it as it means, "no longer necessary", "unnecessarily repetitive", "in excess". I'm a wordsmith, so I think I can grasp this word.

reply

Yes but since there aren't any programs or classes that will make you the title "certified wordsmith" then doesn't that just make you a "self proclaimed wordsmith"?

Only joking.

reply

There were two references. One pointed out Hill specifically as the one looking older. But, I mean, that's a big part of the whole movie. Playing half your age, to only get two references to your older age isn't very excessive. Especially when playing younger is part of the plot, not a minor detail they kept repeating. There doesn't even need to be a thread for this.

"Oh, my God. Bear is driving! How can that be?!"

reply

Purely intrigued, I would like to know what you believe redundant means. OP pretty much nailed it on the head in his use.

Same with the jokes regarding Jonah Hill. (the girl constantly joking about his age; in excess.)

And honestly, having seen many seniors coming out of high school in the recent years, he looks nothing like college age to me.

Another movie joking about this being The Internship. "When did 20 start to look like 12." (Or something along those lines, haven't seen it in a few months, so not an exact quote.)

reply

The girl making fun of him looked older than him actually. like she could be a big sister or something.

the jokes would have worked if they found a girl that looked younger. it made absolutely no sense. She actually looked similar to Jonah Hill. it was almost like she was making fun of herself.
it was the weirdest thing ever
