I'm a young adult and my s.o. is older than I we both really enjoyed it we don't understand all the hate to me it seems it's mostly older people who don't use their imaginations anymore

This is exactly what I found wrong with the movie. I felt it was written by (relative to the target demographic's age) older people who didn't use their imaginations and didn't respect its audience. I think they could have been much more creative and entertaining rather than relying on Minion gibberish and pratfalls. Seeing all the best jokes and essentially half the movie in the trailer didn't help it either.
If you're happy and you know it, go sit in the corner and think about your life.
I love those little guys - since Despicable Me 1 it was the Minions that caught my attention and the reason why I went to see D2. Minion movie was a fun and funny movie... I didn't want to see a deep and involved cinematic masterpiece... I wanted to be entertained with a fun and lighthearted movie and the Minion movie fit the bill perfectly for me... actually I plan on seeing it again.

So did I. It's what I was expecting from minions. I didn't get that. I think the creators held too much back in terms of the slapstick and didn't know how to use body language effectively. Gibberish can only take you so far, but if you know how to animate body language and incorporate it into the slapstick, then I think this would have been a decent movie. It's like the creators thought "Let's do the bare minimum of slapstick humor to get the kids laughing and throw in some 60's music for the parents" without putting any real imagination into it.

I am an adult 43 to be exact and I have to say I adore Minions I think its the funnies cutest movie made and definitely the best movie in 2015. I love this movie so much I wrote a song dedicated to it and did some art work also dedicated to it.
