Meanwhile, the Big Star documentary will be shown as an "in-progress" version. Director Drew DeNicola says a 90-minute workprint will offer a teaser of the finished film. "For the South by Southwest showing, we wanted to pare it down to the essentials about the band," said DeNicola. "Ultimately, the Big Star story touches on so many different things."
DeNicola said that he plans on refining the film and taking it on the festival circuit -- including a likely Memphis premiere -- before an expected DVD release in 2013.
