Died in a 1-car accident on his way home from the studio, under the influence of barbiturates and alcohol. This was not mentioned in the doc. and should have been.
shareYeah, it felt like the extremely obvious tiptoeing around his life was a concession to his family, and it cost the film dearly. Honesty and truth are a heavy price to pay for ANY resource when you're making a documentary.
shareThat's so odd...I could have sworn it was at least implied. Maybe I just inferred it from the newspaper headlines they showed, or maybe have known enough people in that era who smashed into telephone polls and died (always booze and often pills involved).
