Bored after 25 mins

So now they're making crap videogame movies NOT based on videogames?! I thought the adaps were bad but this...

It may have gotten better but I can't justify wasting my life on 2d character-lite avatars.

You just didn't get it. It was a movie based on another movie about a board game not based on a video game based on a video game movie.

reply

No, you misunderstood my comment, which was to say this movie appears as it was based on a videogame

reply

Which it was it was a game based on a video game based on a movie that featuerd a bord game

But what came first? The board game, video game or movie? Its a paradox!

I think you have a point. The video game aesthetic really is uncinematic... It was so here, but the kids (target audience) watch almost anything.

I think one of the few movies that manages to pull it off is Edge Of Tomorrow (A.K.A. Live Die Repeat). But that movie had big stars, Tom Cruise/Emily Blunt, and used the trope of respawning in a sci-fi way to relate it to how experience changes people and how they relate to one another... It was much more of a movie in that way...

I wonder what Spielberg has done with Ready Player One. I'll check it out this week.

If the title of this topic means that you were amused for the first 25 minutes then that is a lot longer than what I got out of it. I found it a very bland, unfunny and unremarkable movie. The creators did nothing to make it stand out.
