*spoilers* Why wouldn't Alex...

...be interested in finding out about the foursome when he got back? He knew they would enter the game in the future, and it didn't seem to be that big of a town. Seems like it would be pretty easy to locate people by the name of Spencer, Fridge, Bethany, and Martha at some point in the 20-some years. Especially Bethany.
Just seems to me he would be curious about them. I know I would.

Also, it makes sense that the game ended up in the school's junk room, since there was no reason to tie it to Alex's disappearance. But once Alex came back, it seems that the history of the game would've changed, since he knew how dangerous it was. I doubt that it would have ended up in the junk room in that altered timeline.

And one more thing: What was Alex's wife doing in the original timeline? She was probably married (to someone else) with a couple of kids. So now those humans have been erased from existence.

You kind of answered your first two questions in the end. Why didn't Alex try to contact the foursome? Because then they wouldn't have gotten sucked into the game and saved him. Why wouldn't Alex try keep the game from ending up in the school's junk room? Because then the foursome wouldn't have found it and wouldn't have gotten sucked into the game and wouldn't have saved him.

It's possible that in the original timeline Alex's wife married someone else and had kids. It's also possible she never married (never found her true love). Guess we'll never know.

reply

I didn't say anything about Alex contacting them. Just that he'd be curious who they were.
It's possible that they told Alex where they'd found the game, so he made sure it was there for them. But that brings up another point - if the foursome were deterred in any way from going back, it was possible that Alex's new timeline would be destroyed, and he'd revert back to the jungle. In that case, it would make sense he'd be even more interested in making sure the four played the game. Even forcing it if necessary.

"I didn't say anything about Alex contacting them."

That's true, but we don't know that he didn't learn anything about them.

"That's true, but we don't know that he didn't learn anything about them."

Sure we do. He had to guess who they were when he met them.

reply

He was fairly sure who they were. Seems more likely that he was making sure he gave the right person the right name.

reply

If he had researched them, he wouldn't be fairly sure. He would know. And there would be no reason for him to pretend not to know. It would be human nature for him to be curious about them.

reply

Depends on whether he researched them 15 years ago or the week before. Just not sure there's a way to be certain.

reply

Sounds to me you just like to argue. We can determine things from what they showed in the movie, and they showed no indication of him researching them. They went out of their way to show that he was surprised then they showed up, and he had to guess their identities.

reply

I just got a different impression from the scene. Didn't mean to upset you.
