The main antagonist in this is also named Van Pelt but not the same hunter dude.
shareIt would’ve been cool if he had made a cameo or something. We don’t see much of this actor nowadays actually.
As for Cannavale’s Van Pelt, I liked him. Some say he was on the more generic side. Perhaps the old Van Pelt left a stronger presence but I found Cannavale’s villain effective.
Cannavale should've also played someone from the school, the principal perhaps
Remember, the same actor played the original Van Pelt and Alan Parrish's dad.
Makes sense that the game models the villain after someone in the player's life.
I kinda hesitate to call that a missed opportunity, although that would’ve been a nice throwback.
In the original, having the same actor play Alan’s dad and the villain was like a reference to Peter Pan. In a way, it gave the movie more meaning.
But yeah, Jumanji modeling its villain after someone one of the players knew in real life (even if they weren’t close to that person) just works.
