The next film
I wonder what will be the next story for the next film.
shareMaybe the Muppets separate and the movie will be about each one facing challenges alone before reuniting at the end of the movie for their great triumph. I say this because this series seems to be imitating the original Jim Henson series of films. The first film (The Muppet Movie/The Muppets) introduced them as an ensemble team, the second film (The Great Muppet Caper/Muppets Most Wanted) had them clear one of their number who had been accused of stealing European treasure, and the third (The Muppets Take Manhattan) followed the plot I have outlined.
Unless Disney surprises us by coming up with something really new and original but I wouldn't bet on it since they've been in the business of repetition and predictability lately.
"Muppets Most Wanted" only made $78 million Worldwide, on a $50 million budget. That makes it a bomb at the box office. I highly there will be any theatrical sequels.
sharebomb is way too harsh... money made from dvd, vod, cable and merchandising makes it profitable... however just half as much as the last one. definitely disappointed compared to the first. but that makes the muppets a franchise. studios are franchise based. there will be more one day but i dont think soon.
disney wanted the second one out really quick. too quick for the director to get it out. they wanted a summer release... that or another holiday would have been better but they filled it in a slot that was left open due to rescheduling in the spring. that director is now shooting alice in wonderland 2
i think we see some sort of tv show before another film
compared to the other films... based on ticket sales... most wanted ranks 7th of 8... but it's basically tied with christmas carol... and not far from manhattan and treasure island (just US sales) and all of those had followups...
I am guessing there might be a TV movie instead.
shareSort of funny to call it a bomb, since it made more than it cost, isn't it? Maybe it didn't make as much money as Muppets or Muppet Movie, but I'm sure it made money also in rental sales and *beep* like that.
shareI hope its something like Muppets or Muppet Movie, which are the best. This film was like Caper, a pale imitation with a stupid caper plot. I did like this film more than Caper though.
shareIf there is another one, it will probably be a remake of "Muppets take Manhattan". Why? If you didn't notice by now, "The Muppets" was a sort-of remake of The Muppet Movie, just like "Muppets Most Wanted" is a sort-of remake of "The Great Muppet Caper". After rebooting those two, why not remake "Muppets take Manhattan"?
shareActually, there is a bit of Muppets Take Manhattan in here too, with Miss Piggy thinking she is getting married to Kermit, when it is really Constantine. Of course, I thought, "Wait a second, they were already married then. Why are they doing this?" Look at my subject, "Uh, I have a problem here with something."
