Plot error?
Didn't Kermit and Miss Piggy married in "Muppets Takes Manhattan"?
shareI explained that away with this movie acknowledging the other movies as movies. Since this was a Muppet movie that took place outside of their Muppet universe...we technically don't know what events from the past movies were just in the movies, or really happened to the Muppets.
Did that make any sense? It was hard to put into words.

everyone deserves one good scare.
Most of the other films were standalones anyway. Half of tehm they aren't even supposed to be themselves. This could be seena s being either a reboot or a continuation too so they coud do either. Also we only saw them get married in their show on Broadway so they might not ahve gotten married for real until this point.
shareNo, they really were married in the Broadway show, because Piggy replaced Fozzie, who was supposed to play the priest, with a real priest, and when Kermit brings that up as they're standing there, Piggy looked at him and gave a nervous laugh, and Kermit looks like he's about to have his head explode, realizing, "This is it!" It was why it took him so long to say, "I do," when the priest asked him if he took Piggy to be his wife."
Anyway, apparently, as everyone else is saying, that was then, and this is now.

Gonzo was supposed to be the minister, not Fozzie. I think the reason it took him a second to say "I do," was he might've thought, "Hey, she's forcing me into this," but then remembered he did promise her he'd marry her once the show was a hit, so he felt, "Well, I did promise, so even though it is a little early, I do love her so why not?"
