Please enough w/Maddie drama!

I like Clay and feel like saying "run now as fast as you can from this girl Maddie". I mean really she only met him a for like 2 minutes and she acts like she's "in love" already; the girl is so immature to date anybody right now. Anyway as much as I really like Clay, he's 24 years old and Maddie is 17 years old - right there is a HUGE problem.

I'd prefer no Maddie at all. Ever again. And the fact that the preview for next week shows her is very disappointing to me. I'm at the point where I'll be fastforwarding through her scenes, and I'm even wondering if I want to keep watching the show.

Yeah, my mom said this is becoming the "Maddie Show." Then she said, "Didn't we already have that show last season?" It was cute for my 70 year old mom to say. But so true! Lol

Exactly. They should have made him 19-20 tops if they wanted the 'older guy' angle. Anything more than that at this stage feels wrong. Especially since Maddie has NEVER exhibited emotional maturity.

I said that too. I wish they made Clay a more reasonable older guy's age like 20-21 tops but making him 24 and falling for her too makes him look sleazy and I like the character. I don't like the age they made him. I would be more comfortable if Maddie was 18 or turning 18 soon but I don't think she is. While Maddie was unbearable in prior seasons, I like this plot for her. It's having her deal with real world issues outside of wanting to be a country singer. They have her dealing with race, culture, affluence, mental illness, and falling in love with a man older than she is. Im excited to see where this will go.

Plenty of men in their 20s are having sex with teenage girls. I know people do not want to believe it BUT it is true. Also, many times it is the teen girls who are doing the pursuing with the older men. I think the writers made Clay 24 for a reason they want conflict because Maddy is still a minor. But some people on here are a bit ludicrous. 17 is almost an adult it isn't like Maddy is 14 or 15.

Of course they are. The question isn't whether they are, but whether they should be. Anyway, I think they piled on too many conflicts here (which is typical of Nashville and especially of Maddie drama). The bipolar disorder would have caused enough of a conflict by itself, especially since Clay doesn't want to take his meds. As one with bipolar relatives who won't take their meds, I know how bad it can get -- bad enough for PLENTY of drama.

Right?! I mean, he seems nice enough most of the time and I know they have a love for music in common, but is it really that critical for her to try to make this relationship work when it already has so many red flags?

reply

I think they're doing it because of that Kardashian/Jenner girl actually.

reply

Do you mean Kylie Jenner? Wow I never would have thought of that! But you may be right about that.

I'll agree with you that Maddie the character is annoying as hell--but then she's doing the job of a teenager quite well.
Maddie's likability or not, the actress is one of the best within the series.
