On the Criminal Minds board, the trolls were so nasty and mean, as well as sexually perverted, that it was difficult to carry on an intelligent discussion about anything. We reported them constantly, mostly to no avail, so many of the regular posters who attempted to discuss the show just slowly pulled away, leaving the trolls to post their vitriol. So we all say that the trolls took the boards down, and the posters say they had the right to post what they wanted for free speech, and that the namecalling they did was not indecent...we were just prudes.
shareYeah many of the crime shows forums were much the same way (NCIS franchise, Hawaii Five O, etc) ... I don't know what about these shows attract the weirdos, but as you said you literally couldn't hold an ON TOPIC conversation.
The creepy stalkerish and sometimes threatening posts regarding female actors or their characters were particularly bad, too. Not to mention the people who would try to bring twitter drama onto IMDB.com continually... Talk about eye-roll!
Don't get me started on the teeney-boppers on the CW and ABC Family Shows. Oh and The Walking Dead board was just impossible to filter through.

I couldn't agree more. I've ran into plenty that I report and ignore. So much negativity and hate on here. But, there are other things they can do instead of just shutting this down. A lot of people are complaining on IMDBs Facebook page.
shareMake no mistake, this is because of Trump rhetoric, supporters v non-supporters. We collectively got "off-topic" on these boards, and we got served. SAD. :(
I agree it is sad; I enjoyed the boards I was on and even though I no longer watched Criminal Minds because of the situation with Thomas Gibson/Aaron Hotchner, I and many others, stayed on the board to keep up with everyone to see what was going on with the people on the board as well as the show. We were always polite to each other and ignored the trolls, some of whom were grossly perverted and NEVER had a good, decent word to say to anyone. We kept reporting them, but even if they got pulled, they changed their names by a letter or two and got right back on. We'd tell the admins...again no help.
If this were to be about Trump, that is an entirely different bag of worms. That situation scares the hell out of me; it makes me apprehensive about where our country is going.

Between people intentionally posting spoilers to ruin other people's enjoyment (especially on things like "Game of Thrones", where the books used to precede the plotlines of the TV show) and just outright rudeness to try and pick a fight, it's the trolls who caused this.
Sadly it seems to be trend in world that when people don't see each other some loose their manners ? I see this daily in my work at customer service also.
Hopefully world will develop for the better someday. Since now few can ruin things for all. And I`m not blaming anyone, but just generally sad for what world is these days.
