*beep* that, this youtube short is NOTHING like an 80s action movie. IT should be a Punisher movie, not an action movie (which it inherently is, anyway), but a Punisher movie, a character study, a drama with tons of actions that isn't afraid to have a man who embodies the darkness of the human condition and shines a light into every nasty, gritty, corner of some of the great cities in the U.S and against the great crime families, both legal and illegal, white collar, blue collar, no collar, etc. :)
Movies need to evolve, like everything else. Personally, as I've said on a few other threads here, Thomas Jane and Punisher would work best in a TV series where we really get to delve into that. It would give the whole thing a better feel, since Frank tends to kill off anyone that could be his "Joker."
The first season could focus on Nicky Cavella and his crime family, the end could show the emergence of Barracuda who could carry on to be a big-time villian throughout Season 2 and 3, being Frank's most elusive prey. The series could end (or not, I'm happy with it continuing) but bring in Elektra (or someone like Elektra) Wilson Fisk. The Widowmaker Arc, Mother Russia, (The Man of Stone) O'Brian (Frank's squeeze that he had a daughter with, that later is aptured by Barracuda in the comics. It's really quite an amazing arc and doesn't play or pander to anyone. It's a genuine "WTF" moment for Frank that leaves him speechless, and pushes him to his very limits)
And of course, the Valley Forge, Valley Forge arc would be a great way to tie-up the series. Ending with a visit by Nick Fury, who fakes Frank's death and gets him onto a project called "Avengers: Dark" or Avengers: Black Ops Division, etc.
Frank would put his ghosts behind him, while the machiavellian Fury would put his bloodlust to use, he'd aim the weapon that is Frank Castle in the right direction. Something that the beginning arc "Up is Down, Black is White" would have made us think would be impossible, but if anyone can help Frank become a better man, it's a man who is like Frank, but has a higher purpose, like Nick Fury. The one man that Frank trusts and respects. And an old mentor to Frank.
Man, I could see it all now...it would be glorious!
