abrupt ending
I'd be willing to bet this was originally supposed to have four episodes, but they ran low on money and condensed it to a three parter. That would explain why it ended pretty much out of the blue.

shareI just saw the finale last night and it seemed abrupt to me, too. To me, the pacing was going along as though there were going to be four episodes.
It's possible that they ran into money problems, but it seems unlikely that an established production company would misjudge the show's budget needs. And it certainly wasn't a series that needed a lot of money for special effects or other costly post-production activities. So my best guess is that it really was intended to be only three episodes. But I agree that it would have worked better with four.
