Question about the ending in the car

I really liked this movie.

But a while after watching it, I wondered about them not hot wiring the car.
I know they didn't do it because they didn't want to screw up the wiring as they had before in other cars.

However, IMHO it was worth another try.

Also, I have a little experience with ignitions. Basically, they could have knocked the plastic casing off the steering column, smashed off the piece where you put the key in, and jammed a flat head screw driver in with their baseball bat.

Turn the screw driver and voila, the car starts.

I thought, that in their desperation, they might try and exhaust every last ounce of creativity in order to get out of the situation.

They're just ordinary guys with no experience in theft or hot-wring cars. I wouldn't have the faintest idea how to do it and I don't think it would be as easy as shoving a screwdriver in the ignition. During the "trapped in the car" scene my mind was busy devising escape plans and reckon they could've escaped if Mickey wasn't such a soft cock.

I agree. My brother knows everything about cars, but I wouldn't have a clue how to hotwire. I always assumed movies used hotwiring as an easy out when they needed to move the story along.
