Thank you. I'm the cinematographer. WE wish it ended when he opened the back of the Volvo too. There was a lot of back and forth over the ending because there was originally a wide shot of the whole escape. I wanted that shot, Jeremy did not... We settled on the way it is now, but after seeing the movie so many times I regret my stance as it would be far stronger without the extra shot. We actually wanted to cut the shot out for our US bluray release as that is the definitive version of the movie, but we decided that we didn't want to pull a George Lucas a year after our digital release and change the movie. We were also worried that people who had seen the movie would think our distributor had made a mistake leaving it off.
I suppose the upside of having left that shot in the movie is that if we were ever going to make a sequel, we wouldn't have to start in that Volvo... Which is real nice because the engine blew up and we sold it for scrap.
