There are lots of movies/books that have done this idea before. Three Hours To the Apocalypse certainly isn't the first. On The Beach is a good one. This doesn't mean more can't use the idea :)

There is a Canadian film called last night that is similar, most stories stem from something else, take Star Wars that takes many aspects from many different stories but it is its own powerhouse.
