Great flick, occasionally poor acting.

This film is a more serious and australian version of Seeking a Friend for the End of the World.

Overall the mood/ ambiance of the film is terrific! It's terribly eerie, wreaks of doom and captures the sense of dispair predestined death might bring.

Unfortunately the acting occasionally lets the film down. Vicky, the girlfriend, is painful to listen to!
The main actor predominantly did a good job, but occasionally his expression of anger was limited to yelling *beep*/ *beep* or *beep* (although this is spot on for how the majority of we Australians act, it's not the best way to portray anger. A little more range of emotion would've been better).

Overall the film was truly depressing/ disquieting (a complement).

totally disagree with you there mate, thought there wasn't a bad note in the movie. Excellent direction, casting or both. i believed every performance in this film. Have a look at the recent Son of a Gun for an example of some filmsy performances, the central cast, aside from Ewan Mcgregor, is good but some of the periphery characters are a bit out and as mentioned McGregor doesn't seem to know what to do.

First off this film was probably one of the better films of the year.. Off the top of my head I cannot seem to think of any that were as solid as "These Final Hours". But to my point the main character played by Nathan Phillips was spot on.. He's previously had some success in the horror genre with roles in another soon to be classic Greg McLeans Wolf Creek and a much more average film in Dying Breed in which he was probably one of the more interesting characters of the film but its very obvious he is extremely talented.. I couldnt disagree more with your description of Phillips role, I thought he showed plenty of range of emotion as this was probably his best work to date..

I thought the acting was pretty good. Some of the "party" people were over doing it a bit, but i guess at the "party to end all parties", you would be going pretty hard, wouldnt ya?

The 2 main characters were all that really matters & one scene in particular was heart breaking.
