It made me think of 'Last Night' (1998) but I liked it anyway.

in all honesty this isn't a unique premise, most stories aren't anymore I liked the Australian take on it.

Yes exactly... I immediately thought of The Last Night as well. And while this movie was good, The Last Night had Sandra Oh and Sarah Polley.
