It's unfair to say that it's a ripoff.

Just because other films have dealt somewhat with the topic doesn't necessarily mean that this film is a ripoff.

One other thread here (the comment "rip-off") gives a link to a Spanish feature.

I myself have seen a short film called, "Impulse" that deals with the same basic plot line: The apocalypse is coming, and a young man is rushing to be with the one he loves before the end.

Also reminded me of "The Last Day" by Richard Matheson.

Just watched it. Awesome movie. Made me teary just a tad and reminded me of the movie "Last Night" with Sandra Oh from Greys Anatomy 1998. In fact those two movies could be set in the same universe if the viewer wanted it to lol

Hmm i wonder if you could put Last Night, These final hours, and Melancholia in the same universe...

I agree. It also reminded me of the film "Melancholia".

Schrodinger's cat walks into a bar, and / or doesn't.

OP, you're right.

Most apocalyptic movies are about family and trying to reunite with them before the end and their subsequent moving on.

Carriers is another movie like this.

The vehicle of the apocalypse may be different, but to say every apocalypse movie where people try to get back to family is a rip-off is wrong.
