Nick and Amy’s Anniversary

Has anyone taken a look at Nick and Amy’s five year wedding anniversary (July 5th, 2012), and wondered why it’s not July 7th? Like, Nick and Amy didn’t set their wedding date for July 7th, 2007, the luckiest day of the century? Not to mention that July 7th was on a Saturday that year, which is when most weddings take place. It’s interesting that they set their wedding day on a Thursday because weddings are usually reserved for the weekend.

Of course, it doesn’t take away from the story in any way but I do think it would’ve added some irony because of how dysfunctional Nick and Amy’s marriage ended up being to the core. Not to mention how Gillian Flynn just really pays attention to detail and does really heavy research when it comes to writing her books, especially Gone Girl, and somehow that one slipped under the radar for her. It’s hard to tell if that was intentional or if she forgot to look at a calendar for 2007 which would’ve been the easiest thing to do. Plus, the book was published in the year 2012, not too long after 2007 so Gillian Flynn had to have had the year 2007 fresh in her mind during the years she was writing and publishing Gone Girl. I don’t know, it’s kind of interesting.
