DON'T END IT HERE

For the love of god, if Dreamworks drops this franchise in favor of sh!t like Trolls...

That ending seemed pretty final but they never really confirmed anything and I guess it all depends on how well the film does, but I'll be very sad if this was the last one, I wasn't ready. There's still more stories to tell with Po

reply

I don't think the ending was really that final. There's still tons of locations they could explore (so far they've only been to their home village, Shen's town, and the panda village) and they could easily start to finally dive into stories connected to certain members of the Furious Five (except Tigress as she already has way more development than the other four).

Dreamworks even said in 2011 they could see themselves potentially making up to 6 Kung Fu Panda films. As long as they keep bringing the quality like they did with 1-3 I'm up for it.

Oh, I'm not up for this at all. The story seems so perfect and complete. I'd be afraid they'd ruin it and go the Shrek route if they made more. Turning it into a tv show would be a better choice, in my opinion.

reply

I agree a tv show seems the best route if it is handled correctly.

reply

You are aware there is one, right?

Err...a regular show or "specials"? If they have an ongoing show, wouldn't that be enough? I do worry about what could come next for the big screen. Someone suggested it should be a related story, but not the same timeline or even chapter. That would make it more interesting.

reply

The do, but it's awful. The series keeps Po stuck in arrogant obnoxious juvenile mode, never ever learning from his mistakes (as he repeats them again in the very next episode more often than not)

"From a phylogenetic perspective, we are all fish!"

Oh, don't even get me started on the TV show...

reply

I feel your pain man, it really was disappointing. Aside from the special "Enter the Dragon", that actually was pretty good. I'll be honest, I enjoyed Kung Fu Panda 3, but I found the villain from that episode better written than Kai (generally speaking).

I haven't seen Enter the Dragon. I stopped after that abominable episode where Tai Lung's nephew shows up at the Jade Palace (how can he even know Tai Lung is his uncle, for one), and Po just acts completely out of character when he shows talent in kung fu and is showered with praise. I thought the show was already bad and missing the point of Kung Fu Panda before, but I actually wanted to punch the writers after viewing that particular episode.

reply

KFP already had its tv show "Legends of Awesomeness" and it doesn't have detailed animation like the films!

reply

Yeah I remember Jeffrey Katzenberg saying that. The last time this was brought up though, the directors of 3 weren't sure. They said it will probably just depend on how well this film does. It's already opened really well and it's got good ratings, so it'll make even more... we'll see.

I'm someone who honestly doesn't care how many sequels a franchise has so long as the movies are GOOD. All 3 kung fu pandas are really well done, we're spoiled.

reply

I wish the producers could compromise with a Valentine's Day Special where the Po x Tigress ship tease could be resolved in a kind of extended epilogue.

reply

I wouldnt mind if they made more but that ending was pretty good and it would be hard to top it, I would also like to see what kind of villain shows up again.

Lose the Game!!!!!!!

reply

I'm pretty sure that they said it'll be 6 movies after when KFP 2 was up.

I mean there's a bit less PoxTigress shiping in this movie than the 2nd one, it'd be almost impossible to end it here.

reply

You living under a rock? They've been saying g for years that it's a 6 movie series

I'd prefer if they ended it with the third movie, but keep the franchise alive through little shorts.
