3 more movies? what its going to be about?

the CEO of dreamworks said that there are 3 more movies planned ahead...
what else its going to happen? are we going to watch in the final movie how the descendants of po in the present days are like the last kung fu masters of the world?
i mean i think the 3 movie its a nice ending to the trilogy. all the questions are awnsered, and the story came to a close. in the 4 movie what its going to happen?
tai long its going to come back from the spirits realm?
then in the 5 movie lord schen to take revenge on po for not to die when he wanted to?
i mean it makes me sad to see that untill there is no more money to milk from the franchise they are going to keep making movies... so what as long people goes to movies to watch it we can end up with kung fu panda 25 the awesomess of the randomness???

reply

I don't know what they would do, but they might not even do them. DreamWorks animation is having money issues and pulling a lot of films back. Combine that with the fact that both this film and Kung Fu Panda 2 underperformed at the box office, I'm not sure we are going to see any more of these. That's probably for the best, we got a nice solid trilogy out of the panda.

"Unless you're an alien, time traveler, or esper, your opinion doesn't matter."

reply

yeah they are not going to reach kung fu panda 2 money levels. it barely its going near his budget. it would be insane push 3 more movies about po.

reply

I'd really like the next 3 movies to focus on Tai Lung and his journey to redemption. I don't care what the writers say. The way Po defeated him left an open end to his journey. There is no discernable end for Tai Lung, which is great preparation for bringing him back. I've read fanfics that did this VERY well.

reply

Someone else suggested that a backstory for Tiger could be interesting.

reply

That would be nice, though we know more about her than the rest of the Five. I think the next movies should develop all of them, instead of just focusing on Tigress just because she is the most popular. Since the second movie they've mainly been forced to the background despite how many scenes they're in.

reply

there is a tv movie called "kung fu panda: legends of awesomeness" there you get a short resume of each of the origins of the 5 masters. even shifu origin its a bit explained, aldo not as much as the 5 kung fu masters. it would be irrelevant to do a new movie. only if they show us like 25 minutes of each master early life, like when they where babies since they where kinda adopted by shifu like tai lung to be trained as future kung fu masters.

reply

The TV show is horribly written, does damage to the franchise of Kung Fu Panda, and needs to die a slow, painful death.

reply

if you refer to the tv movie, its pretty much a movie with the same quality of the first movie. the tv show developed everything the movies could not. like tai lung and the closure about the tai lung son coming to kill po in revenge.

reply

No it doesn't because it's not canon. Too many out of character moments, especially for Po.

reply

And there's no way that snow leopard could have known Tai Lung was his uncle.

reply

as i got it, he clearly says he comes to avenge his father not his uncle, or perhaps there was first a son and later his nephew. the point is that the TV show was announced and backed up as official story telling. so if they say that tai lung its dead (even on KFP2 its mentioned by po) having one or two characters coming to ask revenge for him tells you its not going to happen. a movie about tai lung coming from the dead to become good. it would be like kai it would come to ask a rematch with po to try to kill him.

reply

I DON'T F'ING CARE WHAT THAT DAMN SHOW SAYS. STOP WAVING IT IN MY FACE.

It should be called Legends of Awfulness, because that's exactly what it is.

THIS SHOW IS AN UTTER DISGRACE TO ALL THAT IS KUNG FU PANDA!!!!!

I know more about the world of Kung Fu Panda more than these mediocre show-makers! Everything's become a farce -- "how can we take this pain-stakingly created world of culture-driven awesomeness, and turn it into complete CRAP?!"

I see NO effort being put into this show at all. They overlook even the most concrete of details and replace them with their own made-up bullcrap! The most important, main characters COULD NOT be anymore out of character than they currently are now! I'll actually give you a list:

Po -- he's still maintained his overly enthusiastic, child-like behavior that we all recognize and love, but he's also gained this unnatural, irresponsible air to him -- where respect for his master and comrades no longer exists. He blatantly disobeys rules and orders that are put in place by Shifu and the others all for some stupid reason that is eventually lost by the end of the episode. He is no longer enjoyable, but rather just annoying and extremely immature. Po, in the films, only wanted to please and help those he thought he'd let down or given reason to not like him. He was sweet-natured and caring, and always put his all into making others satisfied -- even if it meant he would be hurt in the process. He also never makes fun of others -- only himself. He is a humble character who just wants to be something great! I mean really, what's the first thing he does on his first morning after staying at the Jade Palace? He tries to get ahead of his game by attempting a split! He's shown throughout the movie to be completely devoted to bettering himself, which is what kung fu means: "excellence of self." I wouldn't be surprised if that's one factor of why he's the Dragon Warrior.

And don't even get me started in his behavior of that episode you keep waving in my face! Po is an utter disgrace to everything we've established about his character in the first and second movie. He gets jealous of the attention the snow leopard got and resorts to lying about Shifu's intentions for him, ending up hurting and traumatizing the poor kid! That is not Po in the slightest, and it infuriated me to watch that scene.

Shifu -- still managing to retain the strict, dead-pan personality that we've come to observe in the movies, but due to the antics of the Dragon Warrior in the show, he is not NEARLY as harsh enough with punishments and making sure the panda learned his lesson. His sole purpose in the show has become to correct Po's mistakes and then walk off into a meditation session -- forgetting completely that a drastic incident had just occurred on his watch.

Tigress -- O...M...G. This...this is just the worst injustice to ever overcome the world EVER! Tigress is supposed to have a very layered, deep, introspective personality that takes time to unfold, and usually by the easy-going Po. But what they've turned her into is just...I can't even think about it sometimes. I get too upset. What this stoic, iron-jawed, skilled, responsible, incredibly focused, and underlying-compassionate warrior is just HORRIFYING. They have completely taken all the "negative" attributes to her (seemingly uncaring, strict, and unpleasant) and made that her solepersonality. The "soft" side that we've witnessed her indulging in Kung Fu Panda Holiday and in Kung Fu Panda 2 have completely disappeared! The show-makers have literally had the audacity to call her "wound up tight, bound by the rules, [and] unimaginative". DO THEY EVEN KNOW WHAT THEY'RE TALKING ABOUT??!!

They constantly chastise her for being "mean and hard-hearted" and is actually openly mocked for it on the show!

In the episode, "Chain Reaction", Po asks Tigress, "You wanted to be the Dragon Warrior, didn't you?" Tigress responds, "Everyone wanted to be the Dragon Warrior. But, things don't always turn out the way you think."

UUHH, STOP RIGHT THERE, SHOW-MAKERS!! That answer was SO lacking in effort that it makes me want to throw up. ANY SELF-RESPECTING KUNG FU PANDA FAN KNOWS THAT THE ONLY REASON TIGRESS WANTED TO BE THE DRAGON WARRIOR WAS BECAUSE SHE WANTED TO MAKE SHIFU PROUD OF HER AND TO PROVE TO THE WORLD THAT SHE WAS WORTH ADMIRING AND WASN'T A SECOND TAI LUNG!!!!!

Po then says later on in the show when Tigress flies into a rage at him for ruining something of hers, "Tigress...you may be a great warrior, but you stink at friendship and...fun-ship."

Well you know what, Po? When you've grown up as an orphan, been called a "monster" your entire childhood for reasons beyond your control, had an adoptive father that with-heald all his love, and strived for 20 agonizing, bone-breaking, years to be the best warrior possible -- all to have it snatched away from you in minutes -- IT'S UNDERSTANDABLE TO BE A LITTLE "UNFRIENDLY" AT TIMES!

Do they even KNOW Tigress??! There is so much more to her than what meets the eye! Maybe that's why it's become so hard for the show-makers to get her personality right -- because it takes genuine EFFORT in order to fully understand her, and we all know that these butt-scratchers are NOT willing to use effort for anything!!

Oh, and to further prove that point on EFFORT, there was a moment in a later episode, "Jailhouse Panda" when Po has disguised himself using a "shift stone", Monkey and Tigress don't recognize him and actually mistake him for a real criminal. In order to prove that it's actually him, he tells them things that only he would know about them. He reveals a couple things that are of the show-makers creations that aren't that big of a deal, but the final comment Po makes about Tigress -- that finally makes her realize it IS Po -- is when he screams, "Tigress, when you were a teenager, you had a crush on Shifu!"

.....................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

MASTER SHIFU IS TIGRESS' ADOPTIVE FATHER!!!! HOW COULD SHE POSSIBLY HAVE HAD A CRUSH ON HIM!!!! THIS FATHER/DAUGHTER RELATIONSHIP WAS OPENLY REVEALED IN Kung Fu Panda: Secrets of the Furious Five that came with the release of the DVD in 2008. THIS IS NOT SOME LOST INFORMATION THAT WOULD HAVE TAKEN RESEARCH TO UNCOVER!!! THIS IS COMMON KUNG FU PANDA KNOWLEDGE, PEOPLE!! The lack of effort being put into this show is just SICKENING!!

The villains suck, and this show has completely removed the dignity the movies had.

So I don't take anything they say seriously. They can just go die.

reply

well, you are confusing TV show with TV movie. there was a few TV movies made by the same people that did the movies, that where released first straight to dvd then tv. secrets of the furious 5 are a good backstory.

you posting a 5 page rant only shows me you are a troll.

you can just give me in 2 lines per character what you think was bad.

i will say i also hated the TV show since it was low budget, and made for small children. the black and white draws with off-voice narrating stuff was too artsy for the small children and for the grown ups, we dont pay attention.

i never defended the tv show. just STATED that everyone in dreamworks, even the director of the 3 movies SAYS whatever appears on the TV show was approved as official KUNG FU PANDA story. so tai lung its dead and he had 2 people that came to ask for revenge. we can see his whole family was evil as well since they wanted to kill po just because he stopped them.

reply

And don't even get me started on that episode itself. It made me REALLY want to slap the writers into next week with the way they handled Po and his behavior.

reply

Another thing I don't like that they're neglecting (besides Tai Lung) is the relationship between Tigress and Shifu. The way he is so cold and critical of her, and her struggle to make him proud. They really gave us something in both the first movie and Secrets of the Furious Five, but since then they've just been sweeping it under the rug and not doing anything else with it.

reply

we know shifu its cold and harsh on tigress since he was loving and caring with tai lung. so he figured it out that he most be distant cold and discusting with his students. and thats from the first movie alone. why do a new movie developing what it was already explained?

reply

Oh, I don't know. DEVELOPMENT, maybe? They could have him start making steps to repair his relationship with her?

What do you THINK?

reply

her relationship does not need fixing. they work like that. she loves him as a father. and so does he. in the middle age, even on the 18 century the fathers where like that to their son`s and daughter`s to impose respect and fear on them. so this is not awful writting its actually copying how the family actually worked on those days.

reply

even if tai lung could come back from the spirit realm, the only redemption he could have would be to go back as a shifu student if he allowed him to, and after years of training and proving he is not bad anymore. in the tv show of kung fu panda there was kinda like a development around the son of tai lung coming to avenge his father, just to end up on jail for that.

reply

They are doing what they did with Shrek. The first 2 was ok, 3 was meh and then they milked the hell out of Shrek and the rest of the Shrek movies are pretty bad

If the directors have an exact goal they want to achieve, like with HTTYD, then I'll be open to whatever they are headings towards.
Personally, I think it would be neat to see Po developing more as a teacher and maybe having to actually be "harsh". I know that since he was picked on first he might not ever want to crush other's dreams, but part of being a good teacher is knowing the pupil's potential and helping them achieve that.
The past movies have shown us how dangerous power and skill directed towards harm can be, so it would be interesting to see if 1) Po as a teacher can spot 'evil' before it becomes uncontrollable (basically Tai Long and Shifu but not so familiar), 2) He has it in himself to tell the student they might not achieve their dream (a bunny that wants to fly like Crane, very extreme example but somewhere along that line) without causing them to resent either themselves or others, and 3) Make sure they understand the difference between a beneficial tool and a deadly weapon (like how Shen's parents saw fireworks as beautiful while he saw them as powerful).
While none of this may happen, I do want to see them to reach a conclusion they can be proud of and provides a good ending to this franchise. If KFP 3 is going to be the final chapter, then I can honestly say I'm satisfied.
