When "religious people" object, it's usually to gay relationships, and the fathers were not gay. I would expect religious people to be all for this film because of the family values it promotes through the story of an adoptive dad and a birth father working together for the sake of their common child.
I found this review from a Christian perspective. They didn't like the talk about ch'i, because it conflicts with Christian dogma and concepts of one God and all that. They also rated it down because of slapstick humor, the flirty behavior of the ribbon dancer, and some of the language. They did like the story and the visuals. I wonder if this reviewer would object to Star Wars and the concept of the Force for the same reason?
