Similar to 'Lifeguard' (1976) ???

Just thought this was interesting. The trailer looks to be good but the plot and context seem VERY similar to a film starring Sam Elliot from 1976 called... "Lifeguard". Plot points are pretty similar but the main differences are in Sam Elliot's character always having been a lifeguard whereas Kristen Bell seems to rediscover the job. Both characters feel strongly that their choices are what they need most at that time in their lives, both have affairs with a younger lover and both endure criticism from their families about their job and are in no uncertain terms encouraged to "grow up".

I'd be surprised if Ms. Garcia hadn't seen the film but it also appears that this is an independent production and not a studio remake. More power to her because it looks good but I wonder if anyone else has noticed this.

I have seen both and they are COMPLETELY different movies- one is about a person running from responsibility, and one is about a person who never had it trying to decide if they want it....

I think lifeguarding is a very responsible job. It's just a different kind of responsibility.

What I wonder is if someone as physically tiny as Kristen Bell would qualify as a lifeguard.

Bell is a pool lifeguard, as opposed to the more demanding beach lifeguard.

She's ruined my wedding. I will not look at her.

Invalid anyway, because my niece is all of a hundred pounds and is a very strong swimmer. And people weigh less in the water, you know, so her strength isn't in how much she can lift as opposed to how she can swim towing someone, which not everyone can do. I tried it, and it was a kid I was bringing in, I nearly drowned myself because I am not a strong swimmer. I've seen beach lifefguards just as tiny as Kristen Bell.
