if the roles were reversed...
Would this movie even be made? A 30 year old male with a 16 year old female?

Yes. There's been plenty of 30 year old males with teenagers on television and movies.
shareLol definitely. Plenty of movies to pick from. Also, take a look at how actresses get sexualized from a young age. People are already talking about how they can't wait till Chloe Grace Moretz becomes 'legal'. People don't do that to boys at that same age.
If the roles were reversed...we'd call it Pedophilia.
So, recently Kristen Bell is "acting" only in disgusting tv show, "House of lies" where she bends over boss's desk & having sex with this ugly & old buy for a quick promotion. And now she is also present in this presumably stupid, pedo movie. What a promising acting career went down the drain...
This movie is a remake of the 1976 version Lifeguard where the roles are reversed.
errm....no we wouldn't pedophilia is prepubescent. the word you've looking for is ephebophilia
shareDoes it really make a difference? Some kids start puberty before they are even 10 years old but you don't want to label the predator as a pedophile just because they didn't go after someone who was prepubescent. Tell that to the girls who are 6 and 7 and end up pregnant. Yes - it is a true fact. Just to some research.
shareThe most popular movie with teenage girls involves a 100 year old man and a 17 year old girl, it is called Twilight.
shareActually she was 29 years old... and 10 months. I know it may sound like a joke, but I think it mattered to her that she wasn't yet 30. Psychologically something happens when you turn 30. Before that you're "just in your twenties".
An example of the reverse (old male vs young female): Liberal Arts.
Actually thats not true, in that film he was 35 and she was 19 (and was in college) which makes her an adult. Further more if you look on the message board you have loads of women (Surprise) saying that if she had been 16 then it would have not been ok.... Also as far as I can tell he does not have sex with her in the film.
Potato potato. 16 vs 29 vs 19 vs 35. Same *beep* in my book. Not in yours I guess.
shareWell clearly not at 16 they are a child and 19 they have had 3 more years to develop and mature and are classed as an adult so ... yeah there is a difference.
shareYep but every person is an individual. This guy of 16 was moving out. Pretty adult move in my book.
Also being "legally adult" has nothing to do with having sex - in most parts of the world. And not in the state of this film as far as I know.
So if someone decides to move out that immediately qualifies them to be approached by a 30 year old adult and lured into a sexual relationship ? They might even be younger than 16 but its ok because they moved out so they are obviously ready ?
Legally an adult has nothing to do with sex but its a good gauge on if a child has reached the level of maturity and development required to safely engage in a sexual relationship without it causing adverse effects.
Again: every person is an individual. Sorry if I misunderstand but you seem to think that everybody is magically ready at 18. In my country you "enter the ranks of the adults" at the age of 14-15. I can't really relate to you calling this guy immature to have sex with a 29 year old. Ofcause it's not "okay" in my book. But it's also not the end of the world.
shareI never said they are magically ready at 18 I implied that they are more likely to be ready at the age of 18 and that is why the law has been written like that in most places.
Which country considers 14 year olds adults ? Where are you from ?
I never said the guy was immature for having sex with a 30 year old I said that he might not have mentally matured to the level where he is ready to engage with her on a sexual level. And it would take a long time for the adult to realise this just going for it like she does in the movie without any intelligent conversation would not have allowed her to ascertain that.
Think of it like this if you had a daughter and when she was 16 (or in your case in your country 14) and a 30 year old man came around and said he was going to be taking her on a date which could very well end in her having sex with him would you be happy about that ? Would you feel confident that your daughter was mature enough and intelligent enough to know how to handle it ?
I think in that scenario most people would not let the date happen (I certainly wouldn't with her being 16 and definitely not at 14)
It might not be the end of the world to you if it happens but it might well be the end of their world if they suffer psychological / mental problems of being lured into sex at too early age.
I think you're wrong. Anyways - she was 29. You keep saying 30 and this was my initial point that I wanted to make. There is a bit difference, at least for her.
shareTechnically she was 29 and 10 months so closer to 30 than 29. Not that that makes any difference only to her but that does not excuse her actions by any means.
