He made such a big deal to get his son back and he bails.

I'm pretty sure he didn't bail and we'll find out what happened next week. The storyline is not over.

All I could say is that if I saw my son with Gabby, I'd try to get him back as soon as possible.

I am most likely wrong, but I got the impression that he was afraid of getting attached emotionally only to have the state decide against him having Louie.

Or like someone else said, something happened to him.
