1 episode in and...
I really enjoyed it! I see alot of negativity on the board about this show. Does it go downhill after the pilot episode?

shareIt's just boring, the story isn't going anywhere, and the acting is embarrassingly bad across the board.
I'll watch one more episode, and if it's not an improvement, I'll cut my losses.
Also, when I first heard that Joel Kinnaman was in this, I was like "oh my god, that beautiful man!" But I am finding his character here strangely moralistic, and his pining for some (much less attractive than he, btw) woman for hundreds of years just seems unrealistic, so I am not even enjoying THAT aspect of the show (i.e., drooling over him).

What?? Women do that?? Btw this is quite arrogant tbh.
How is it arrogant?
I am not enjoying his hotness when the package overall is so unrelatable.
And your incredulous "What?? Women do that??" sounds sexist and ignorant.
It gets very slow... Then around episode 6 it shifts gears... by episode 8 it kind of becomes a different movie completely.
Frankly they didn't need 10 episodes to do the movie and you get the sense that a lot of the stuff is filler. Throwing in over long songs why doing video montages starts to get old, especially when the songs they use appear to have been written for the movie and suck. By the end I knew when a song started it was going to be a good time to go to the bathroom.
One of the reviews on IMDB said that religion turned out to be the main point of the story in this - is that true?
If so, I will not spend another minute on this show.
Not the main point, but it is integral to the story.
And if that chases you away, get thee gone.
..Joe
Of course religion chases me away. As it should any rational person.
Religion is responsible for the music of Bach and Mozart, the art of Michelangelo, the Mosques of Damascus mosaics, the writing of Milton and so many others.
I cannot fault anything that can create so much beauty.
And if you're so shallow that you can't be around something, (not just religion) well, maybe it's better you don't watch.
..Joe
What about your own extremist and religious views you are expressing here?
shareIt stays good. Theres always negativity on internet.
shareit's a great show. don't listen to all of the negativity here. If you liked the first episode you'll probably enjoy the rest of it even more.
shareExcellent reply here: indeed if you liked the first episode, most likely you'll probably enjoy the rest.
I did not. I watched hoping it would get better, but I never felt it did: in fact, I felt it went continually downhill, redeemed in Ep. 3 only a little by using the music of BabyMetal.

If you get to as far as the sister twist, it just starts getting stupid and silly.
shareThe moment when he goes "rock-scissors-paper" fucking killed me. My sides were hurting from laughter.
sharerofl. No doubt. That was the start of the second to last episode.
I still haven't quite gotten around to watching the finale quite yet because that episode just kind of killed my interest. It's too bad since I love steampunk and this series started with so much potential IMO.
