Spider-Woman

I really hope at some point during the MCU, scientists take Peter's blood and start cloning. Captain Marvel needs her partner in crime, her bestie.

The Clone Saga sucked.

reply

I think it was a good idea, but fanboys ruined it. What's wrong with Spider-Man being a clone? That doesn't take away from his heroic actions that define him.

reply

Exactly, fanboys ruined it. Ben Reilly was a decent clone.

reply

Jessica Drew isn't a clone of Peter Parker.

reply

She is in the Ultimate Spider-Man universe. Her codename is also Black Widow there. They really "squished" all the female spider characters together in that universe.

reply

It seems more likely the movie is influenced by ultimate Spiderman.

reply

In 616, however, she not only isn't a clone, she also doesn't really have any connection to Peter. I would have to imagine her rights belong to Marvel, not Sony.

reply

That doesn't matter, since Marvel and Sony are making this movie together.

reply

Jessica Drew or nothing.

FIRST CLASS was already a "divergence".

we dont need that *beep*

reply

No.

That's basically the equivalent of giving the character to Sony.

If they do go with Spider-Woman, I would agree with the OP. Go with the Ultimate Spider-Woman storyline, where she's a clone of Parker...

But more preferably, go with a Spin Off Film starring Spider-Gwen, and make it an alternate universe that uses the same actors from the Concurrent Spider-Man Films/Marvelverse...

Example, maybe in the Spider-Gwen universe... Michael Chernus's Tinkerer is more heroic then villainous... Maybe they hire Charlie Cox to play the villainous Matt "Murder"dock... Etc.

Give the originally actors a chance to play their characters in a new light.

reply

^^ I like this idea. A Spider-Gwen movie set in an alternate universe would be great.

reply

Yea sure, why not? If they were serious about the whole SJW approach as some users have accused them of, they'd be a bit more daring.

What's missing in movies is same as in society: a good sense of work ethic and living up to ideals.

reply

Nah, don't go the route of the Spider-Woman clone saga.

I much prefer the 'Julie Carpenter' version of the character. Speaking in terms of a movie, her origin story is much more straight-forward and easier to tell than the other Spider-Women.
