New season

Mickey looks like the best character, as usual.

So far I'm not impressed with the first episode.

Ray jumps into the water and doesn't die (he would have IRL), punches a cop, gets hit in the head, goes to jail instead of a hospital, meets the cop again in a bar, moves in him with him (WTF?), gets fat and grows a beard. At least he's back to being a fixer again. Oh, and another WTF moment was Daryll with that celebrity and those women. Really weird scene.

Mick and Bunchy's stories are the only ones keeping me interested in the series. And, of course, Lena.

I think Ray Donovan hit its peak in the third season. It has been going slowly downhill now for a while. Hopefully the second episode will show some sort of improvement.

Yeah, I had a feeling the move to NY would be detrimental to the show. I'm not really feeling it either.

Hopefully Mick's escape will invigorate it a bit and Mick will have a larger role.

Ray's 'fixing' was sloppy as fuck in the second episode dealing with the Samoan problem. Just casually acquires a gun and drugs from the evidence room. Now I'm not a police officer but surely shit like that is logged? Even if the pistol has had it's serial number removed, surely there are photos of it on file? Someone's going to notice it, and the drugs missing.

Then, the two gun shots what, 24 hours apart? That no one in the building reported. First dude dead with Novak's gun. I'm guessing she was able to get a carry permit even in NY due to her job? That would be registered to her. Or did she pre meditate sourcing a hot gun? The police turn up and forensics notice first guy has been dead for x hours and second dude is still warm. No GSR on first guy, or second guy. A 10 year old could determine that was staged. Or is it just not going to be investigated...

I posted my own comment on this season, and basically, I agree with you. The show peaked a while back and continues downhill. The writers haven't seen fit to come up with something more compelling than Mickey f'ing up everyone's life, and the same dimwits (Daryll and Bunchy) acting like dimwits.

Maybe the show will improve and end up on a high note, but so far it seems more of the same old.
