Lol at the ppl that complain about the unrealistic aspects of the show
Last I checked majority of movies and TV shows aren't meant to be realistic. If you can't suspend disbelief stick to watching documentaries.

shareYEAH!!
shareWho said that movies and TV shows aren't meant to be realistic? What Ray Donovan has done has split the seam of plausibility, a sign that the program is running on empty and that the writers have given up having it make sense. These are reasonable expectations when watching a drama.
shareMovies and tv shows aren't meant to be realistic. That would get boring real quick. Like I said if you want total realism? Watch a documentary or the news. You need to suspend disbelief when watching a tv show that should be a known fact by now.
shareSure, but there has to be plausibility, it has to make sense. Ray Donovan has gone off the deep end, showing otherwise smart people acting stupid week after week. All signs that the writers have run out of gas. This program peaked at the end of two seasons, and it has had to resort to more and more ridiculous behavior. ('Let the good times roll,' says Jon Voight. How about a happy dance?) See?
shareThe only thing this show needs to be is entertaining to watch and that's all you can ask from any show. Nothing is perfect in this world so you gotta weigh the pros and cons and if the show has become a chore to watch than don't watch it anymore problem solved. I personally disagree with everything you stated. The show has only got better over time and I'm still as invested in the characters now just as I was when I first started watching the show.
shareJust how dense are you op? It's either total realism or anything goes for you. The show in its current season is completely bonkers. It's like watching a Naked Gun or Airplane movie and not in a good way. Nobody's looking at this as a documentary but absolutely nothing this season has made sense. If you can't see what a dive in quality or lucidity this show has taken them you're completely clueless and apparently easily entertained....... And not in a good way.
shareI simply watch the show for entertainment you should try it. No tv show is meant to be realistic if you think that you are simply a moron. I have been consistently entertained with ray donovan the past 4 seasons and that's all I ask for. If you can't suspend your disbelief don't watch tv shows or movies it's that simple
shareYep clueless
shareI went to an industry preview house several years ago. They handed out these gizmos with knobs you were supposed to turn to track whether you found parts of the show dull or interesting. But they warned that many people turn it to dull when they didn't like a character. Sort of a way to boo the villain.
I sense that this is what's happening here. Just because a character is deplorable (to coin a phrase) or a plot line is unrealistic, does not mean the show is not good or is boring. I agree with the previous poster who said that all that is called for is a show to be entertaining and hold your attention. This show certainly does that. Could it happen in real life? Probably not, but that doesn't make it bad writing.
I saw a post about the movie The Artist, where a person said that he was totally turned off and taken out of the movie by the BACKGROUND OF THE TITLE CARDS!

I think people overthink it way too much. But yeah, there are dumb scenes and plots
If I don't reply, you're probably on my ignore list for something I forgot already
I loved this series in the beginning. Writing seemed above average, and the characters were very interesting. There's no comparison to the early episodes of RD and the ones of late. My favorite series stands at BREAKING BAD. Absolutely held me on the edge of my seat, every episode.
