Even though depressing, this series is strangely captivating
Makes me wonder how any of the characters in it could sleep at night due to how they live their lives. No typical consciences, I must assume, in that line of work. But, it wears very hard on them, nonetheless. Ray is constantly trying to just get things done he has to do to keep his life, associates and family together, with a habitual criminal father out of control, two many-challenged brothers, and with a wife with cancer. All that while fighting killers every day. I said it was depressing. Ray is a morose but willing fixer of all things in life, the guy who sets everything right, even if it is criminal to do it. Very interesting mix of goodness, morality and shoot them in the head. I especially like the terrific Eddie Marsan as Ray's ex-boxer brother with Parkinson's(treat yourself to his great performance in Still Life, another sad story).
