Or more proper term suppressor... Ya dont just walk in a pawn shop and but a pistol.. Especially with a silencer/suppressor on it.. That is under class 3. First fill out more paperwork and this is federal not state or class 3 weapons or accessories you go thru the feds with paperwork they are anxious to turn down for any reason... Fake ID wont get it. And the way police check any pawn shops these days ....no he aint just gonna have it laying in his display case. Not to mention the shop also has to have a special license to sell class 3...
There are gun shows every week in cities. You can get anything there. Many times in the parking lot out of the trunk of a car with no questions asked.
The other day I caught the tail end of a feature story by a woman reporter on gun sales. I think she was in Arizona and went to a gun show. She had a foreign accent and told the guy she was not an American citizen. His reaction was so what.
He asked if she was a convicted felon and she said no. Then he said yeah he could legally sell her a gun.
I hear this line, "you can get anything at a Gun show", probably by those who have never been to one.
I was at a Gun show last week and there were no nefarious dealings going on, but then I don't live in Chicago, the murder capitol of the country with the strictest gun control laws and the most criminals with guns and I actually doubt the validity of the Arizona story.
I have coordinated city police coverage as security for gun shows in the ninth largest city in the country and we have not had any "parking lot" dealings, though we did bust a guy with weed last year.
The premise of Mickey just going into a pawn shop and buying a suppressed weapon is beyond stupid on so many levels which have been discussed here before. Just crappy writing, that's all.
There are 50 states and they all regulate firearms sales differently. Some have laws as weak as a kitten. You can even buy guns in flea markets. Those are often stolen guns from home burglaries where I live.
Another person who really knows nothing about firearm purchases.
There is no legal gun transfer from a dealer to a buyer without a background check. Unless that person is a CCL holder. As long as their CCL is in good standing there is no background checked performed. That does not change from state to state. That law is not "weak as a kitten" in one state and not another.
Additionally, no one can legally walk into a flea market and buy a gun. Unless of course the seller is a licensed dealer and does a background check on the buyer.
What folks like you don't know about gun purchases could fill a library.
I take it you've never "coordinated" security in Florida gunshows. I bought an extended magazine for a Glock at one while they were banned. Private owners walk around with rifles for sale on their shoulder, and deals are completed between private citizens in the parking lot of the convention center, all perfectly legally. But wtf do I know? I just buy *beep*
In truth, a pawn shop owner has a federal curios amd relics license which would allow him to handle and sell class 3 antiques, and regular firearms of all types.
You know thats kinda the point. Of another subject .. That illegally you can get anything you want. If you get caught with it it is. A felony with mandatory time... But my poi t was ...PAWN SHOPS...if mickey had went elsewhere to get it... That would be realistic... But this way ...it just seems lazy ...lazy writting or production.
