shareKatie Holmes herself has said that her Character in Ray Donovan wore braces because it is supposed to help with her crippling migraines. The Braces helped make her Character though, I thought Katie was great.

Yes, I heard that but I thought it was weird that they would go that far and then later mention the migraines.

There was one scene/mention about them in the entire season. To add something that visually arresting to a character they should have made it a significant part of the plot not "oh, she's got a headache and is having a lay down for ten minutes". It just seemed like a completely pointless thing to do as it had absolutely zero impact on the overall storyline.
shareit wasn´t really that pointless. The braces were a way to display a flaw in a seemingly perfect and hard business women. She is a high achiever and the braces are not typical for persons in such position. As Cochran mentioned, it seemes a tad freaky, usually people like her go for the "invisible" option. Paige did not, part because of her no $hit attitude part because he gave the otherwise (seemingly) perfect display a dent.
I thought this was one of the better "screen" decisions the team made.
