The USA did collapse under Lincoln. So by your logic he was a terrible president. Is this correct?

After being elected and before Lincoln took office seven states ceded from the Union and formed the Confederacy...

The US didn't collapse under Lincoln, it collapsed under James Buchanan the President before him. Buchanan is considered one of the worst Presidents in US history by most historians. While Lincoln is widely regarded as one of the best if not THE best President in US history.

The US had a tiff under Buchanan, it collapsed and tore itself apart under Lincoln. Besides, nobody cared about Buchanan. It was the election of Lincoln that moved the secessionist movement forward. In any case, the issues that caused the split existed long before either president took power.

Regardless, the OP's point is still retarded beyond words. Just because a country doesn't collapse under a president, doesn't in and of itself validate that president's legacy. Do you disagree?

I agree with most of Bama's positions but not immigration or the death penalty. Illegals have no business being here because a nation is not a nation anymore without borders!

Also he should be more than a lukewarm supporter of the death penalty. Vicious killers deserve as much mercy as they showed their victims!

No, it just continues to head in that direction with more people out of the work force than at any point in US history since the great depression, criminal fraud and blatant sabotage of the health care system (lie of the year), unparalleled debt compared any other president (more so than every prior president combined)...

But if the country doesn't completely collapse by the time he leaves office, all of this can simply be shrugged off as being "not that bad."
